Highlights of a New Central Park
The all new Cameo Pizza/City of Sandusky Event Center.

The new event center would be a Fabric Tensioned Structured which is safe and very cost effective. It would have a concrete base and an astroturf field so that it could be used as a multipurpose facility. The event center would be heated by geothermal loops buried under the park before construction of the facility. The facility would be cooled by geothermal heat pumps as well. The mammoth facility will be 300 feet wide by 400 feet long with a 50 foot deep stage that is 200 feet wide attached to the rear of the facility.
This would be a multipurpose event facility capable of holding concerts, sporting events, rallies, and trade shows. This Facility would be A PPP (Public Private Partnerships) between the City of Sandusky and a group of investors spearheaded by Cameo Pizza.
The entire park will be converted into a "traffic rotary" or commonly referred to as a "round about". By doing this it will create an expanse of land capable of containing an events center. The new center will be outfitted with bleachers capable of seating 2500 people and hold another 2500 to 5000 people standing or seated in chairs.
The Facility will include a large concession area w/public facilities, Covered Basketball Courts, Covered (McDonald's Playland like) Children's Play area, a new adults only retractable domed swimming pool and swim up bar (The Cameo "DIVE" Bar)
, as well as being attached to an all new renovated Cameo Pizza. The new Cameo Pizza will be greatly expanded with an "over the street" patio and banquet facility that has a glass retractable roof for dining in all seasons.
The New Cameo Pizza will feature a Key West Bar and Patio both with retractable glass roofs.
The Facility will be greatly expanded by moving the present Cameo bar to the second story into the old banquet facility. The Cameo Pizza Facility will be heated and cooled by the same geothermal underground loop system as the event center.
If the City would see fit to purchase the Madison School Property then the Historic School building could be integrated into the new facility or used as the new City Hall and the Parking area and Gymnasium could be converted into a Parking Garage.
There will be many concerns from citizens that would need to be addressed such as Parking, Noise, Trash and Safety.
Parking
The city would have to mark certain on-street parking areas with safety neon green paint so residents have a place to park on event nights. Every resident will be issued as many parking permits as they want. If a car not displaying a permit is in a green marked area it will be towed. Parking will be available at the newly rehabbed Columbus Park, Huron Park, Downtown Public Parking Lots, The County Parking Garage, and The Erie County Fairgrounds. A system of City provided (pay for) shuttle busses will be available for events.
Noise
The Events Center can have sound barrier fencing and designated hours of operation so as not to cause a nuisance as well as having sound insulated sidewalls.
Trash
Many new trash receptacles will be provided street side as well as in the parks and cleanup crews will pick up litter the morning after the event. New street lights and security cameras will help to identify litterers.
Security
On event nights the city will arrange for security for events and provide additional patrols for the downtown area. New street lights and security cameras will help to deter crime.
Residents should note the event center will increase their property value making it easier to get loans for improvements or better for selling their property. The city will benefit by increasing the value of blighted property as potential investors eye these as new parking lots, bed and breakfasts, and possible new commercial development.
